This makes me so angry..Around early July I was attacked on the corner of St. Marks and 3rd avenue by a transphobic asshole named Hugh Plantin. He called me a “faggot” and beat the shit out of me while people watched and did nothing.
I am five foot six inches and weigh a hundred and fourteen pounds. Both my hands were filled with groceries. I was pinned to the ground and beaten until I blacked out.
The police caught him 10 minutes later. He is currently being charged with a misdemeanor assault charge that carries a max sentence of one year in prison.
why only for a misdemeanour? how come?
The A.D.A. told me that assault is only classified as a felony if certain bones are broken. Facial bones aren’t on the list.
There’s nothing at all remotely ok with this…
I’m reblogging this so people can see. I want everyone to see the result of transphobia. I want everyone who’s ever called bullshit on me when I say that I live in FEAR every single fucking day to see what I’m actually afraid of. Yes, nothing bad has happened to me… yet. I’m sure this young lady (who is equal in hight, though lighter of frame than myself) probably thought things were just peachy up til this guy broke her face in, also.
