nothing really matters. what matters is that nothing is ever "in and of itself."

Yesterday

I wrote a post about how not excited I am to see all of the engagements on FB following Valentine’s Day, and I want to elaborate on that.
Let it be known, JEALOUSY is not the driving force behind it! I have a wonderful boyfriend, we’ve been together for over 2 1/2 years, and I’m perfectly content with where we are. The main reason I hate seeing peoples engagements on Facebook? How impersonal it is.
I have literally seen girls upload the photo of their engagement ring MOMENTS after the question is asked. And I understand the excitement! But the fact that their first instinct is to update their status makes me sad for society. Maybe I’m alone here, but whenever I get engaged, my main focus will be telling my family and friends. I want to share that awesome experience and milestone with the people I love BEFORE I show all the schmucks I’m “friends” with on FACEBOOK.
I’d be lying if I said there was zero jealousy involved, but it’s mostly annoyance. And yes I realize the irony of posting this rant on Tumblr, but I know the rest of you get it at least a little bit.

THE ANNOYING FACEBOOK GIRL MEME EXISTS FOR A REASON.

Dave left for Texas this morning! He made it safely to Dallas and loves the hotel he’s staying in. I went over to hang out with my nana (that’s what I call my mom’s mom) and my two little cousins while my aunt was at work. Now I’m just hanging out with Prudence and waiting for Kristen and Rachel to come over! We might drink a little wine, but mostly I’m just excited to see them!
